tenerife airport Tenerife Northe Airport is one of the disastrous airports which is situated in Cristobal de La Laguna Island about 11 km from Santa Cruz in Spain. The geographical structure of the airport is very complex which is at an altitude of about 630 meters, that seems to be a horrible spot for accidents. History reveals that there are many records of accident, but the one which occurred in 1977 was really adverse in the history of this airport, about 583 fatalities lost their lives in that accident.

It is one of the two international airports in Tenerife city which serves more than four million passengers with about 61,000 flight operations. This airport connects Tenerife city with various domestic as well as international cities with around 40 flight every day. The airport has four-storey terminal building and 12 gates which were inaugurated in 2002. After the first flight to Caracas, this airport was positioned as an International Airport in 2005. The history of this airport begins from 1930 when Ford-4 AT Trimotor plane took off from Madrid to Los Rodeos field. After visiting this place, it was decided to construct a small air-dock and start collecting funds from 1935 to 1939 for finance purposes. This airport is one of the most important parts of Spanish Civil War.

The expansion and the development of this airport was carried out in different years during the Spanish rule. The rapid expansion and development of this airport was carried out from 1946 to 1953. Tenerife Northe Airport had an extension of 2400 meter and was opened for the national as well as international visitors during the same period. After extending the area, it was outfitted with an air ground-radio and lights on the boarders of runway which enabled to make operation at night as well. There are more than ten airlines which operate flights from Tenerife to various destinations inside the country as well as outside the country such as- Air Berlin, Air Europa, Iberia, Spanair, Finnair and so on.
